Web hosting facts and
Beginners Guide
I have to set up a new
website
Step1 : Register your domain name
A domain name or a web address is the
basic name using which you will be
viewing your website. example : mydomain.com
A domain name being an unique address,
should preferably relate to your company
name. Though domain names can be upto 67
characters in length it is preferable
to have short names since it would
be easy remember and use. Always remember
that you should have full control over
your domain name since it is equal a
brand name of your company. Vist this
link for Online
Domain Registration.
Step 2 : Ordering web hosting - how
much space ? windows or linux ?
Once you have registered your domain it
would be necessary to choose a location
where you would like keep your web pages
which would be displayed globally. In
this case you would need to choose an
appropriate web hosting platform ie
either windows website hosting or
Linux website hosting.
If you plan to host simple html pages
(without asp) then linux is fine. ASP is
supported only by windows platform. Web
pages consume a lot less pages. For
example a 65 page website like ours is
just around 1.5 mb of html pages and 5
mb of graphics. So a 10 mb website space
is suitable. But what consumes space are
emails. We receive around 150 emails
daily and the space consumed is around
20 mb per day. So please choose your
hosting plans based on the above
guidelines. If you have doubts feel free to Contact
us.
Step 3 : Pointing your domain name to
our servers
Once you have decided the appropriate
hosting platform and placed your order
then you will receive the details for
uploading your website, setting up your
emails and the nameservers of your
server. You would need to
change the name servers of your domain to
point to our servers where your website
space is reserved. This can be done be
logging in to your domain control panel
and making the changes. If you have
doubts feel free to Contact
us.
Step 4 : Checking your website and
setting up your email ids
Once the nameservers are correctly set
within 24-48 hours your website will
available globally and can be viewed by
any person with an internet connection.
Our default under construction page will
show up. We will provide the correct
instructions for setting up your email
ids.
Step 5 : Web design and development

emails working you can proceed with the

websites, small business and large
corporates. We provide an unbelievably

development (optional)
